News about Maryland Home Loans

Due to current volatile and unpredictable financial market conditions causing an unexpected high demand for the Maryland Housing Fund (MHF) single family mortgage insurance program, the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is suspending temporarily the MHF mortgage insurance program. This suspension is effective immediately and includes all new MHF insurance related to Maryland Mortgage Program (MMP) purchase loan products. DHCD remains committed to working with its partners through the current mortgage and real estate volatility, but can operate only within the realities of the financial markets. DHCD will keep our lender partners informed of any changes in this temporary policy and look forward to the opportunity to have MHF resume assisting home buyers in the near future. DHCD continues to maintain a reasoned response to current financial conditions in order to maximize its available resources to provide financing for housing that is affordable, desirable and secure.
